Mayor's Greeting
Welcome to the corner of Main Street and the Internet. You have found the web site for the Town of Hampstead, Maryland. We’re a small town in northeastern Carroll County, a historic, family-oriented community with friendly neighborhoods and successful small businesses.
Hampstead is a community shaped by a road, the Baltimore-Hanover Pike. The original settlement of “Spring Garden” was a wagon stop. The Pike became our Main Street and the settlement eventually grew into the Town of Hampstead. Unfortunately, the narrow, two-lane road became increasingly more congested over the years until 2009 when the Hampstead Bypass was built. With heavy traffic moving around the town rather than through it, our future has never looked brighter.
In Hampstead, we have great schools, caring churches and wonderful civic organizations. Residents enjoy a wide range of recreational opportunities including our well-maintained local parks. As Mayor, I’m proud of the high quality of municipal services we provide and having one of the lowest property tax rates in the County. In addition to core services like road maintenance, police protection, trash removal, etc., we support community events like Hampstead Day and the annual holiday lighting ceremony.
On behalf of the Town Council and our municipal employees, I hope you enjoy our wonderful small town. When you are in the neighborhood, please stop by and patronize our local businesses.
